About the Editors

The Journal of Financial Market Infrastructures is led by Editor-in-Chief Manmohan Singh and Deputy Editors Jorge Cruz Lopez and Anneke Kosse.

Manmohan is a Senior Economist with the International Monetary Fund, in Washington DC. He writes extensively on topical issues including rehypothecation and collateral velocity, monetary policy and collateral, shadow banking, and under-collateralisation in the OTC derivatives market. More recently Manmohan has focussed on digital money and stablecoins, and how they will impact central bank operations and balance sheet. He has written a book with our sister brand, Risk Books, titled "Collateral and Financial Plumbing" now in its third edition, that examines the above themes from the lens of financial collateral. The book is now also available in Chinese edition. Manmohan has led workshops for the IMF to official sector policymakers on strategic asset allocation and the impact of regulations on financial markets. He has also worked and written policy notes on several countries including Japan, India, U.S., U.K., Eurozone etc. He holds a PhD and MBA from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and a B.S. from Allegheny College.

Manmohan Singh
 

Jorge is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Economics at the University of Western Ontario, an Academic Consultant at the Bank of Canada, and a member of the Advisory Board of the New York Institute of Finance. From 2019 to 2023, Jorge was the Director of Financial Engineering and Research at Financial Network Analytics Ltd. (FNA), a leader in Regulatory Technology (RegTech) and Supervisory Technology (SupTech). Prior to joining Western University and FNA, Jorge worked for about a decade at the Bank of Canada, first as a Senior Economist and later as a Principal Researcher. There, he oversaw and conducted research and policy work in the areas of financial market infrastructures (FMIs), asset pricing, financial stability, and risk management. He also participated in multiple working groups relating to the regulation of derivatives markets and the modernization of payment systems, in addition to serving as the Associate Editor of the Bank of Canada Financial System Review. Jorge’s research interests include financial asset pricing, financial risk management and financial market infrastructures (FMIs). He has published in academic and practitioner journals, served in editorial and scientific boards, and spoken at several conferences, universities, and policy institutions, including the Bank for International Settlements (BIS), the Federal Reserve Board of Governors and various other central banks. He has also been a Visiting Scholar at De Nederlandsche Bank, HEC Paris and Queensland University of Technology, and has held teaching positions in the business schools of Carleton University, the University of Ottawa and Simon Fraser University, where he obtained a PhD in Finance in 2014.

Jorge Cruz Lopez
 

Anneke Kosse is a Senior Economist at the Secretariat of the Bank for International Settlements’ Committee on Payments and Market Infrastructures (CPMI). Her portfolio includes conducting research and supporting the Secretariat’s policy and standard-setting work in the field of central bank digital currencies, cryptoassets and stablecoins. Previously, Anneke worked at the Bank of Canada, most recently as a Research Advisor at the Banking and Payments Department, where she was responsible for leading the Bank of Canada’s research agenda for the modernization of the Canadian payment system. Prior to that, Anneke worked for nearly ten years at the Dutch Central Bank, where she conducted research in the area of retail payments. Her payments research has been published in various peer reviewed journals. Anneke holds a PhD in Business and Economics from Tilburg University.
