ING Bank saw its operational risk-weighted assets (RWAs) rise to a three-year high in the fourth quarter of 2023, thanks to updated assumptions in the bank’s internal models.

The Dutch conglomerate’s operational risk was €38.5 billion ($41.5 billion) as of the end of last year – up by €3.5 billion compared with the previous quarter and its highest since 2020. The rise lowered the bank’s Common Equity Tier 1 ratio by 16.3 basis points, Risk Quantum calculated.
