Basel op risk reform proposal expected to be delayed
Consultation on scrapping operational risk modelling is now expected in early 2016
Sources say the Basel Committee on Banking Supervision’s latest proposals for a new operational risk capital regime are likely to be delayed as the task of calibrating the plans drags on.
The eagerly awaited proposal is expected to include scrapping the advanced measurement approach (AMA) to op risk capital – the 'own models' approach used by more sophisticated banks.
Although it was originally planned for December, several sources tell Risk.net the proposal is not now expected until January
