Banks warn it’s too early for an OTC swaps consolidated tape

Market participants say Isin difficulties need to be resolved in order to create a usable tape

Problems with the way individual derivatives contracts are identified must be addressed before any attempts are made at creating an aggregated feed of prices and volumes, according to derivatives dealers.

The comments come after the European Commission’s head of securities markets, Tilman Lueder, announced at a conference in June that the legislator is drafting proposals for a consolidated tape in Europe for “certain strategic asset classes in the derivatives world”.
