Spanish banks are emerging from the doldrums to awakened investor interest in equity and volatility exposure in a search for yield.
The sun is shining again on the Spanish derivatives market. Investor appetite for risk has risen sharply, amid expectations the sovereign debt crisis will continue to abate, and the positive mood has generated a renewed sense of opportunity among brokers and their clients.
Sell-side firms have been boosted by lower funding costs and deposit rates, and structuring desks are competing hard against a backdrop of recent rallies in equity and credit markets, bankers say.
