European exchange-traded funds (ETFs) may be excluded from a consolidated tape that gathers together market data for all the equity trades that take place in the European Union.

The EU’s executive arm is mulling whether to create a separate tape for ETFs, according to the head of the securities markets unit at the European Commission (EC). Creating a new tape for exchange-traded products would mean that investors have longer to wait before they can use a single feed for on and off-exchange
