Fast-track SOFR term rate, says JP Morgan’s Pluta

Traders divided on whether liquidity in SOFR futures is sufficient to support a forward rate

A senior rates head at JP Morgan has called for the timetable for publishing forward-looking term versions of the secured overnight financing rate, or SOFR – currently scheduled for the end of 2021 – to be speeded up.

Thomas Pluta, global head of linear rates and co-head of North America rates trading at JP Morgan, said liquidity in SOFR futures listed at CME was already sufficient to start work on a forward rate.
