CFTC to review swap data reporting regulations

Rule changes could be proposed as early as fourth quarter of 2017

The US Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) is conducting a review of its swap data reporting rules, which critics say have failed to deliver the quality of information expected by market participants, and even the regulator itself.

The agency unveiled a ‘Roadmap to achieve high quality swaps data’ on July 10 and opened a 40-day comment period to solicit public input on swap data reporting.  

Acting CFTC chairman Christopher Giancarlo said the review will focus on streamlining reporting
