CBA sees minimum CET1 up 225bp under Basel III

Apra’s review of the country’s capital framework leaves less wiggle room from January 2023

Commercial Bank of Australia’s (CBA) minimum core ratio is expected to increase by 225 basis points to 10.25% from January 2023, following a revision of the country’s capital framework by the Australian regulator to align it with Basel III.

The Australian Prudential Regulation Authority (Apra) finalised its review in November. It will result in changes to the calculation and presentation of capital ratios for dealers under its jurisdiction.
