RBNZ model ban and Apra op risk overlay push RWAs higher

Risk-weighted assets (RWAs) increased at ANZ by 7% in the year to end-September, as operational risk add-ons piled up.

Total RWAs stood at A$417 billion ($288 billion), up from A$390.8 billion for the previous year. The bank’s Kiwi operations saw RWAs climb the most, by 16% to A$78.6 billion. In contrast, its international operations accounted for A$78.5 billion, rising just 5% on the year, and its Australian businesses totalled A$259.8 billion, also up 5%.
