Ice Clear Europe reported a peak margin breach of $1.2 billion in the third quarter of 2018 – the largest since public disclosure began in 2015.
Prior to this, the CCP’s largest margin breach was $65.5 million and was first reported in the first quarter of 2017.
The clearing house posted a total of 55 margin breaches at end-September, with an average size of $55 million – the most breaches on public record. Ice Clear Europe reported just 12 margin breaches in the previous quarter.
