BNP Paribas grows SFT assets 36%

French bank has overtaken Barclays to become the largest European SFT dealer

BNP Paribas became the largest securities financing transactions (SFT) dealer in Europe after increasing gross assets by a whopping 36% to €381 billion ($445 billion) from end-2017.

Over the six months to end-June the French firm hurdled Barclays, which had held the top spot among European Union global systemically important banks (G-Sibs) in SFT exposures, which include repo, securities lending and margin lending, since end-2016.
