A new drive by banks to limit the size of their cash deposits is starting to hit home, with customers reporting they are being pushed to use other sorts of products, ranging from longer-term deposits to money-market funds and other investments. The trend is a consequence of regulations that are making the business – a traditional cornerstone of banking – newly unattractive.
