EU may let UK insurers break law to pay clients after Brexit
Member states likely to choose protecting policy-holders over suing firms, if UK leaves with no deal
Such is the topsy-turvy world of Brexit that some firms are contemplating a stark choice between potentially breaking the law or betraying their customers. Many smaller UK insurers are opting for the former, gambling their law breaking will not be punished.
The customers in question are based in the European Union. The wrong-doing involves honouring their contracts even if the UK crashes out of the bloc with no deal, meaning its insurers will no longer be automatically allowed to service policy
