40 million cards exposed to fraud
MasterCard and Visa fell victim to a credit-card scam in June that potentially exposed 40 million cards worldwide to fraud due to a theft of data from Atlanta-based CardSystems Solutions, an external vendor that processes retail credit-card transactions.
According to a press statement issued by MasterCard, about 13.9 million of the cards exposed to risk of fraud carried the MasterCard brand. Of these, 2% were issued in the Asia-Pacific region and less than 0.07%, or 9,730 cards were issued in
