Equitable Life: Has OpRisk Humbled Another Ancient UK Firm?

Some one thousand disgruntled policyholders with Equitable Life Assurance are discussing with a firm of UK lawyers the possibility of suing the directors and auditors of the troubled British mutual life assurer.

Leon Kaye, senior partner with law firm Leon Kaye, Solicitors, told Operational Risk in early January that 400--500 Equitable members had responded to his firm's invitation to policyholders to make contact.

That number is on top of the 600 policyholders who were already consulting the law
