Jade leadership revealed

The Chicago Board of Trade (CBOT) and the Singapore Exchange (SGX) named the chairman and directors of their planned Singapore-based joint venture, the Joint Asian Derivatives Exchange (Jade), yesterday.

Bernard Dan, currently president and chief executive of the CBOT, has been named as chairman. The board will include SGX chief executive Hsieh Fu Hua, SGX vice-chairman of derivatives trading Ang Swee Tian and CBOT marketing and business development head Christopher Malo.

The two parent companies also named Chong Kim Seng as Jade's managing director. Chong was previously head of global customer solutions for R1 International, a rubber trading company. He was also general manager of the Singapore Commodity Exchange from 1993 to 1995.

Jade, which will start trading later this year, will allow trading of its own commodity derivatives, hosted on the CBOT electronic trading platform and cleared by SGX.
