Citibank appoints head of structuring for Asia-Pacific

Citibank has named Rodrigo Zorrilla as head of structuring and corporate sales for Asia-Pacific, reporting to Paco Ybarra, head of financial markets for Citibank Asia-Pacific. He will be responsible for the development and structuring of Citibank's Asian treasury products, including derivatives.

The appointment is the latest in a string of changes following the merger of Citibank and Salomon Smith Barney's (SSB) regional sales units for fixed-income derivatives and cash products last month (see RiskNews Feb 6). As part of the shake-up, Singapore-based Ferdy Khouw was appointed head of Citibank's Asia-Pacific investor sales business, leaving his post as head of financial market sales for Citibank Asia-Pacific. In this role, Khouw will focus on the investor side, with Zorrilla taking on the liability business.

Zorrilla joined Citigroup after a career at the Mexican Ministry of Finance and Pemex in 1991, first as a derivatives transactor at Citibank Mexico then later as sales and structuring head. In 1996, he transferred to Venezuela to take on the role of country treasurer. Most recently, Zorrilla was regional sales head in New York from 2000.

As part of the reshuffle, the country corporate sales heads, including Carl Walsh, head of structured products, and Eugene Acevedo, head of derivatives sales, will now report to Zorrilla as well as to their respective financial markets heads.
