SEC outdoes Europe on hedge fund, private equity disclosures
US to ban preferential treatment and introduce quarterly performance updates in rule shake-up
The Securities and Exchange Commission’s (SEC) plan to make hedge fund and private equity managers provide their investors with quarterly performance updates will make the US a tougher place for private funds to do business in than Europe.
Regulators in the European Union require funds to publish annual reports, although they must release a one-off update if the fund’s leverage or liquidity changes a lot.
