Over the past two years, much regulatory attention has been focused on the way conflicts of interest affect the production of investment research and the issuance of capital market debt. Although driven by the high-profile cases in the United States, this has become a matter of international regulatory concern.

In response to this crisis of confidence in sell-side research, the UK’s Financial Services Authority (FSA) last month released its response to February’s consultation paper
