If a hedge fund is like a car engine – achieving optimal performance only when finely tuned – then Louis Gargour has a distinct competitive advantage over his fund management peers. As a teenager in Boston, Gargour would spend whole summers building 1960s hot rods. “I still love anything mechanical: taking a car engine apart to see how it works, any kind of DIY”, he says.
