UK debuts 50-year index-linked gilt

The 1.25% bond was issued via a syndicate of BarCap, Morgan Stanley, RBS and UBS

The UK priced an issue of 50-year index-linked bonds in September - the first of its kind in the world. "We have successfully opened a new sector of the index-linked gilt market, matching the extension of the conventional gilt curve earlier this year," says Robert Stheeman, chief executive of the UK's Debt Management Office (DMO).
