Chinese regulator widens options for QDII offshore investments

The China Securities Regulatory Commission (CSRC) issued rules in July allowing investors to access offshore capital markets via fund managers and securities firms in China as qualified domestic institutional investors (QDIIs).

The QDII scheme, launched in April 2006 by the central bank, the People's Bank of China, essentially gives China's domestic banks and investors direct access to overseas markets. Until now, the range of investment products available to QDIIs has been limited to fixed
