Oliver Frankel, Goldman Sachs' veteran head of central counterparty risk, has retired after 23 years at the US bank, Risk.net has learned.
Frankel plans to move away from the sell side but not leave the derivatives markets entirely, he tells Risk.net. "Future plans are as yet unsettled, but may include more work in the derivatives risk and margin area," he says. He left the bank in December.
A spokeswoman for Goldman Sachs in New York confirmed his departure but declined to comment further.
