The status of Asia’s still-nascent hedge fund market has soared over the past year, five years after being painted as the villain of the Asian crisis. As equity markets continue to flounder and bond markets offer next-to-nothing returns, more and more investors are considering alternative investments as a viable option. Even the region’s regulators – specifically Hong Kong and Singapore – have shown a willingness to develop Asia’s hedge fund market, with plans to introduce retail hedge funds
