Entering 2009 most fund administrators are braced for a more challenging environment, with fewer funds and more regulation.

Many investors began to demand that funds use independent fund adminsistrators, particularly in the US. This could give a much needed fillip to the indusry.

Meanwhile, tighter oversight and scrutiny of hedge funds could lead to new rules impacting
the fund administration industry.

Further significant changes are expected in the wake of tighter regulation, demands
for more transparency and increased liquidity.
