Clearing houses prepare to fight for FFAs

Rival clearing houses LCH.Clearnet and Nymex Clearport are entering the freight derivatives market in separate bids to unseat the incumbent Norwegian Futures and Options Clearing House (NOS). NOS, in conjunction with the Oslo-based International Maritime Exchange (Imarex), currently holds a monopoly on cleared forward freight agreements (FFAs).
