Banc of America Securities hires senior oil analyst

Banc of America Securities (BAS) yesterday hired Daniel Barcelo as a senior equity research analyst covering the global integrated oil sector. He joins the Bank of America subsidiary from rival bank Lehman Brothers and will be based in New York. He will report to Susan Silverstein, global director of equity research.

At Lehman he was a director and a senior European oil & gas equity research analyst since 2000. He was previously a senior oil & gas analyst at Commerzbank from 1998 to 2000 and a senior Latin American oil & gas analyst at Caspian Securities from 1997 to 1998.

The BAS energy equity research team now comprises seven analysts covering subsectors including electricity utilities; independent power producers; natural gas; global integrated oil; oil & gas exploration and production; and oil
