For many people around the world, the 2007 slump in property prices was bad news. Hedge fund manager Christian Roos (pictured) saw the downturn as a chance to explore a newly volatile market.

Roos’s background was in real estate equities on the long side. He began his career in Sweden, heading the Nordic real estate and construction equity research team at Alfred Berg ABN Amro before moving to London in 2004.

He then took up the role of fund manager at Pramerica Real Estate Investors in London
