The countries of Latin America, previously seen as economic basket cases, have collectively and individually shrugged off this image. For the past few years they have displayed impressive economic growth coupled with low inflation.
With the economic prosperity has come interest from local institutions and corporates in hedge fund investments. Regulation for this market is patchy across the continent. Most countries see the Chilean model as the one to use when planning legislation on this issue.
