The latest people moves in the securities services industry
RBC Investor Services has appointed Germain Birgen as head of client solutions, Europe (excluding Luxembourg), alongside Richard Clarke, who joins as head of client design. Both will report to Tim Wood, head of global client solutions.
Birgen will be based in Luxembourg, and will lead the client solutions teams throughout Europe. He joins RBC from HSBC Securities Services Luxembourg, where he launched and headed up the fund solutions division in addition to the Islamic finance committee.
Clarke will be based in London and will lead the client solutions team. He was previously senior vice-president of strategic solutions at Brown Brothers Harriman, where he was a member of the management team for the financial institutions business.
In addition, Martin Anderson has been appointed head of network management. He becomes a member of the global operations leadership team and reports to Joanna Meager, global head of client operations. Based in Dublin, Anderson will be responsible for managing all relationships with RBC Investor Services’ network of sub-custodian banks, prime brokers and other key bank providers around the world.
Meanwhile, the company has hired Kevin Hogan as director of client operations, Australia. Based in Sydney, Hogan will join the local management committee and report to Duncan White, head of client operations, Asia-Pacific, and David Travers, managing director, Australia. In his new role, Hogan will be responsible for managing client operations in Australia, including custody, fund administration and shareholder services. Hogan joins RBC from Macquarie Investment Management where he recently served as head of fund accounting.
BNP Paribas has appointed Jean-Yves Fillion as chief executive of BNP Paribas’ north American corporate and investment banking (CIB) activities. Fillion, based in New York, will oversee the bank’s north American asset management and securities service businesses. Previously, he was head of BNP Paribas Fortis CIB and a member of the BNP Paribas Fortis executive committee and board of directors.
Dominique Remy has been named head of BNP Paribas Fortis CIB. He will retain his responsibilities as global head of structured finance for the division. He will be based in Brussels.
Gen II Fund Services has named Mark O’Connor as director of business development, based in New York. Prior to joining Gen II, he was a senior vice-president at Citi Private Equity Services responsible for business development. Before that, he was an executive director at CIBC Capital Partners where he helped build and manage its private equity fund unit.
Northern Trust has appointed Tony Glickman as senior vice-president of global client solutions. Based in New York, Glickman will work with clients to develop solutions that combine Northern Trust’s capabilities in global custody, risk analytics and reporting with the technology and expertise of Northern Trust hedge fund services. Previously, Glickman worked as a proprietary trader at the former Bankers Trust and Chemical Bank and served as head of proprietary trading, treasurer and head of portfolio risk management at Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce (CIBC).
Meanwhile, Christopher Thomson has been appointed as business development manager, Australia, for Northern Trust. Thomson has three decades of financial industry experience, most recently as a sales and relationship manager with JP Morgan treasury services in Australia. Thomson, based in Melbourne, will report to Jeremy Hester, head of business development for Northern Trust Australia.
Standard Chartered Bank has appointed Richard Jaggard (pictured) head of transaction banking, Europe. Based in London, Jaggard is responsible for the bank’s cash management, trade finance and securities services in the region. Jaggard has more than 25 years of experience in treasury and finance roles within several multinational corporates.
Jersey-based DCG has appointed Paul Perris as managing director of DCG fund services, with the aim of further developing the firm’s funds business and expanding its service capabilities globally. He joins DCG from Ogier, the offshore law firm and fiduciary group, where he was a partner and group director.
Bravura Solutions has added Alex Hoffman to its propositions team. Based in London, Hoffman will be responsible for growing the Sonata wealth management business in the Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) region. Hoffman will report to Nick Parsons, Bravura’s business development director. He joins from Calastone, where he worked as sales director for the cross-border transaction network.
