This year has been a watershed year for Korea's exchange-traded markets. After a gestation period spanning years of discussion and preparation, the Korea Exchange (KRX) was born from the consolidation of Korea's former three main exchanges.

The Korea Stock Exchange (KSE), the Korea Futures Exchange (Kofex) and the Kosdaq stock market came together in January this year to cut out inefficiencies in Korea's markets and counter increasingly tough competition from exchanges around the globe.
