Scottish Mutual is the latest UK life company to link to a hedge fund in order to offer retail investors an alternative to the popular, but much criticised, with-profits product.

With-profits funds in the UK have come under fire from various Government reviews, as well as investors themselves, due to the low bonuses being allocated as a result of falling markets

Scottish Mutual, Canada Life and Axa have all formed links with fund of hedge fund managers, allowing access into the vehicles
