Roll out the Master plan

Prime brokers are unfurling Master KAGs, turnkey platforms for managers to access the German market. Citigroup, the first to do so last year, tells David Walker how theirs works

The use of the term 'solution' is oft-overused in hedge funds, but for budding or existing managers circumnavigating Germany's registration and reporting tangle, it may well apply to the KAG platforms prime brokers are launching.

Citigroup, which in December became the first group to gain a license for an onshore German Master Kapitalangesellschaft (KAG) platform, has already provided the base for the Asargo fixed income fund to enter the domestic market in January, with another, a proposed GLG
