US proposes new air pollution rules

The Bush administration announced its long-awaited changes to air pollution guidelines in June, gaining a cautious welcome from the industry and criticism from environmental groups.The changes were announced on June 13 by Christie Whitman, administrator of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), the government’s environmental regulator.
