AEP takes SolArc for coal trading

American Electric Power (AEP), headquartered in Columbus, Ohio, has licensed the RightAngle trade management product from software vendor SolArc to manage its worldwide coal trading operations.

AEP, which in October joined the growing number of energy companies to cut back its trading operations, is the biggest consumer and a top-20 producer of coal in the US. When announcing the cuts it singled out coal markets in the UK as a key area of continued focus.
