Now that March is upon us, it’s hard not to notice the telltale signs of spring: the days are getting longer, the sun is actually still up when we get off work (well, for some of us) and spring-cleaning has officially begun.

Unfortunately, spring-cleaning means different things to different people. On page 22, we take a look at General Motors, whose spring-cleaning activities will most likely include taking immediate action that would turn around their next quarterly results and hopefully mitigate a ratings downgrade.

Another industry that would be well advised to clean up its act is the airline industry. On page 38, we take a look at the latest troubling news for the domestic carriers—although some market pros speculate that all the solvent in the world won’t cure their woes, and that liquidation for some is just over the horizon.
